One truly unique thing about Cain's perfect game was that the official scorer, Dave Feldman, predicted it. In the first inning, he told the MLB.com scorer, Karen Sherrill, that Cain was going to pitch a perfect game. Matt Cain is one of those guys every other teammate adores. He calls no attention to himself, doesn't seem to need the attention. He shows up, goes about his business and competes like crazy on the mound. He has played in the large shadow of others for a lot of his career, but seems concerned, not about credit, but about the bottom line, which is winning. Well, it was very different from Jonathan Sanchez's no-hitter in 2009, which was also a perfect game until Juan Uribe made an error in the eighth inning. I don't think I took Sanchez's bid seriously until the eighth inning.
